Growing Up in Amateur Motocross

For Team FastBoy MX, motocross is about far more than what happens between the gate drop and the checkered flag. It is the years of practice, changing track conditions, shop nights, long drives and race weekends spent together.

Our featured rider Jaxon is growing up in the sport of motocross. This is the story of the progress, challenges and memories that come with that experience.

Taking the Next Step

Jaxon entered the 2026 Thames Valley Riders season on his 2023 Yamaha YZ65. After strong results in 65B—including a race-day sweep at Gopher Dunes—he moved into the faster 65A and Mini Open classes.

The step up brought stronger competition, quicker starts and less room for error. At Walton Raceway, Jaxon earned eighth in Moto 2 and ninth overall while continuing to adjust to the pace of 65A.

Results like that matter, but much of the real progress happens between them: improving starts, finding better lines, riding with greater consistency and learning how to respond when a moto does not go as planned.

The Work Behind Race Day

Amateur motocross rarely follows a perfect schedule. Weather changes, races are cancelled, bikes need repairs and some weekends are harder than expected.

The 2026 season has included all of it, along with regular maintenance, setup work and a mid-season top-end rebuild to keep the YZ65 ready to race.

Those less-visible hours are an important part of rider development. Every practice lap, adjustment and difficult race helps build a more complete rider. Team FastBoy MX shares that side of the sport alongside the strong finishes because genuine progress includes both.

A Family Journey

Race weekends are family weekends. Bikes and gear are loaded, the trailer becomes part of the routine, and much of the season is spent travelling across Southern Ontario.

Jaxon's sisters share in the riding and adventure too, while friendships made at the track have become an important part of the experience.

Some weekends end with trophies. Others end with muddy gear, a repair list and something new to work on. Both become part of the story. The memories made while camping, practising, travelling and spending time with friends matter just as much as the results.

The Road Ahead

With years of growth already behind him—and many more still ahead—Jaxon continues competing in the TVR 65A and Mini Open classes. The focus remains on steady development, stronger racing, new opportunities and enjoying every stage of amateur motocross.
